“Unable to load data class information from sync services” alert message in iTunes 8 [Mac OS X]

After messing around with iTunes 8 Up/Downgrade i produced the error “iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services”. So it wasn possible for me to sync my devices with the Mediathek, the rest of iTunes worked fine!

itunes_errorGerman: “iTunes konnte keine Informationen zu den Datenklassen von Sync-Dienste laden”

Removing and Reinstallation of iTunes alone didn’t work, so i looked at the exact error message in the logs. It told me that there was something wrong with the AppleMobileDeviveHelper.app (don’t no what exactly, but it seems that the path changed during updates?). So let’s fix this problem…

  1. Delete iTunes.app Application Bundle in your /Applications/
  2. Delete /System/Library/Extensions/AppleMobileDevice.kext
  3. Delete /Library/Receipts/AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg
  4. Delete /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework
  5. Empty trash
  6. Kill Process iTunes Helper with your Activity Monitor
  7. Reboot your System
  8. Re-install iTunes. The iTunes setup installs iTunes + the AppleMobileDeviceHelper

I tried it with new 8.2.1 and it worked again. The cool thing is that the Backups and Mediathek of iPhone/iPods are in your User-Dokument directory, so everything is available in your old state!

Good luck!
